For image purpose I suggest you to use Adobe photoshop. I prefer to use this application for almost all purpose related to images.

For a professional layout, I would recommend CorelDRAW or Illustrator. Of course, Photoshop is the best in the treatment of photos to use on your pages.

Photo Shop CS4 Would be best if you know about basic function of photoshop, This offers best features to design high quality digital layouts.
