Question  Copy Cat

Hi all,

For the second time a blog post of me is copied to someone elses blog. Even a personal anecdote where I'm telling about conversations I've had with other persons is copied.

This blog is not giving me a link back and tries to add their link as a comment to the blog post.
First I thought the link they are giving was stuffed into their "Wellness Dog Food Directory" section though this is not the case. It's my subject line again and the link points to the copy they took.

So far all comments were spam so I'm keeping comment moderation on.

The copy cat blog is this one: http://www.wellness-dog-food.com/
This looks like a 100% automated website. No original content whatsoever! Only copies, adds links to sales pitches for their e-book.

Original Blog posts from me that are copied are in the category Home Made Dog Food Recipies: "Feed Table Scraps With Care !" and "Dog Food Cooking Classes".
Copies are at:
wellness-dog-food.com/798/feed-table-scraps-with-care-dog-food-recipes
wellness-dog-food.com/573/dog-food-cooking-classes-homemade-dog-food-recipes

Then when you go there you see a link but this takes you to their e-book which is heavily promoted in the internet since I bump into it a million times.

What to do? It's not fair and legal what they are doing in my opinion.

Barbara

RE: Copy Cat

Hi Barbara,

It is sad to read your story....and i've read Berthino's story about hackers also. I don't like this at all!!

I want to know why this all happened and does it have anything to do with this specific blog-programm? Should it also happend when you use a Google- of Yahoo-blog?

Is it a normal thing, does this often happen with blogs? I do not have any experience with it, and rather write no blog then having this kind of problems. The loss of energy, the anger about this bad behaviour of others, is it worth while the trouble?

RE: Copy Cat

I dont know about the copying thing, but my forum gets a new spammer member everday which posts pornographic images, links or other advertisements in the introduction forum on my board. Now I have set the registration activation to admin, so now they can register but wont be able to post untill I approve their account.

Goodluck to you barbara,
B

RE: Copy Cat

It's not even the spam I'm worried about most, that I can simply delete (though irritating of course).

The important issue is that text I wrote is appearing on the other website with no credentials or link to me.

RE: Copy Cat

Have you tried contacting the copier and tell him you want him to either delete the post or link back to you?

RE: Copy Cat

That's exactly what I wanted to do, though on the website no mail address or contact form can be found (not by me).

I googled on 'who is' then entered the URL and found a contact with a Yahoo address.
This guy now has my mail.

@Nisandeh: Can (and should) I report this websites to Google? (I'll give him some days to respond and correct for his mistake but still it's a phony website anyway).

RE: Copy Cat

"I think therefore I exist" (Benthino: let's not discuss here whether this is actually true ;-))

Translated to POI this is:
"I get spammed and copied, therefore my website exists and get's found through search engines."

So Yvonne, my answer to you is: the plusses of blogging are still bigger than the minusses.

RE: Copy Cat

Hi Guys,

Welcome to the "real world"!

Do you remember why you entered the online world?
It promised an easy and low-barrier-to-entry passive income opportunity.

Do you think we're the only ones in the world that figured that opportunity out?

But those spammers are not willing to do the work and walk the extra mile.
They're looking for get-quick-rich opportunities.
Most of them are not bad people.
They are just innocent newbees that bought an over-hyped $39 promise to make fortune online by using some automated script, bla, bla...

Their script put their spammy messages on other people blogs and forums, as well as collecting other people's material...

The thing is - they'll never make it.
The search engines are waaaaayyyyy to smart for that.
Their stolen material will never appear in the search engines, and even if it will - it will never be higher than the original contributor.

And their spammy comments and messages are deleted before they ever see the light of day.

You can get pissed off, irritated, and have a heart attack at a young age, or you set up moderation and delete the spammers. Your choice!

You can complain to those who steal your material or you can ignore them. I would try to complain first, and if it works - good for you.
Otherwise, just relax and keep generating high-quality material.

Remember, we're not here for the short-term.
In the long-term quality ALWAYS win.

As I told you before during the course - there is TOO MUCH information out there in the online world. It's too easy to get distracted from your real goal.

Think long-term. Think quality. Think over-delivery.
Think C-T-P-M - and success is yours.

Keep up the good work, Nisandeh

Ok, here's what you can try in case somebody doesn't want to remove your content.

I know that it's not allowed here in Holland to post personal information like phone number, names with address without approval from the person it self. So if those " script kiddies" use automated scripts what they've bought what automatically copy everything from your blogs, just put your name and fake adress in one blog for a day till their script copied your content to their site.

Then remove your personal information and go to http://www.nic.com, whois their domain name to get the admin info of their ISP where they host their site and send an email to the copycat that if they don't remove the copied material that you'll contact their host for spreading personal information without your approval etc etc... Just scare them! This scares a few peoples and remove it self, if not you can try to contact the admins and explain the situation and talk especially about the personal information. I know that dutch hosts do not allow this and contact the site owners immediately and shut down the site if they don't remove it. Don't know how this is in foreign countries. You can always give it a try if you have time for such things, Personally I wouldn't bother to much with such cheap charlies. Waste of time.

Just my 2cents.

Attila
