Tina's website and blog

I'm following Bentinho's advice and I'm opening my own new thread for reviewing my site and blog.

Yes, thanks to Nisandeh my new blog is online now! And I have posted my first article about 777 events that took place last Saturday. Of course all of us had our own very special event at the Mercure Hotel!
Check out my blog at http://www.party-planning-blog.com

And then there's my website http://www.event-and-party-planning.com where I have actually added some text now to my homepage.

It still takes me way too long to write the content though. Even to rewrite several articles that I used as input for the 777 post on my blog. But I am sure that in time it will all go faster and faster.

Please feel free to give your honest opinion and feedback on both my blog and website. Does the text on my homepage need any improvements? Is it too personal? Does it make any sense to you considering my topic? Is it too much to put a picture of myself on my homepage?

I took the day off from work tomorrow in order to do some more work here since coming Saturday is the last time we can pick Nisandeh's brain on these issues.

RE: Tina's website and blog

Hi all,

I have also changed my site's look over the weekend and added some content. I will be getting there slowly but surely.

I have a question: I have the strong urge to make the 'framework' of my site first. I mean: make most of the tier 2 pages with some initial content about what is going to be in there later on. Then of course I will complete them as soon as possible but I have my main navigation already visible and in order. And people will know what to expect when they visit my site.

Is it OK to do that? Or do I only add a tier 2 page when I have really completed the content per page?

Thanx!
Tina

Tina,

You can put a tier 2 online without having a tier 3, but as your site is composed on lists only (apart from the homepage) I would choose to add content before adding more tier 2's like this. Depend also on the speed at which you think you'll get to creating content of course. In the beginning you're site is in the dark anyway, so who would notice?

When you look at the planning Nisandeh handed out on the last day of the course you'd notice that you first choose few tier 2's, then add tier 3's and only later start adding the other tier 2's. So it doesn't start with the complete picture / framework. But you can always choose to do otherwise of course.

T2 or T3, I add T2's but don't add links yet to T3 pages what I don't have yet. My T2 pages are almost ready, then I contact somebody who could check my spelling and then I'll go over to add all T3 pages and fix the links to them. Does that mater if I do it this way??

RE: Tina's website and blog

Hi Attila,

That's the right way I think.
When I create a T2, I write it in such a way it can stand on it's own for a short or longer period of time.
Then as I develop the tier 3's I go back to the T2 and add the link. Sometimes I need to do a little maintenance to the T2 but as I'm working with a plan I usually know what T3's will go below the T2.

OK, thanx for the feedack. I also wanted to add all the T2's before adding the T3's but I'll see what comes along first now (the 'easy fruits'). You are right my T2's include mainly lists of possibilities now. I hope they are not all going to be like that. Rolleyes

RE: Tina's website and blog

I could not resist changing the layout to a lavish lavender. I might change the navbar and logo from pink to another color but I'm quite happy with the lavender.

What do you think of it?

Cool  RE: Tina's website and blog

Hi Tina, I like the lavender (find proof of this at http://www.lilama.nl)
Though my personal preference would be to not combine this with pink but rather something like turquoise for instance (just my opinion, stick to what you like).
